**The Income Team Leader role**:
We’re looking for an **Income Team Leader** with a natural flair for leadership to be responsible for ensuring procedures are robust and efficient, tasks are planned and prioritised, and team members are trained and motivated to achieve theirpotential and meet individual and team performance targets. You will be leading and managing the delivery of a professional, effective, high performing rent collection and debt recovery service in accordance with legislation and Berneslai Homes’ policies,procedures and performance targets.

**Key duties and responsibilities of our Income Team Leader**:

- Responsible for the line management of Income Officers and Income Assistants, providing coaching and guidance to ensure they develop their skill set for the role and responsibilities and achieve their full potential
- Responsible for team members welfare and development including absence management, training, 1 to 1’s, personal development reviews and performance issues
- Lead in the recruitment of Income Officers and Assistants roles and have responsibility for the comprehensive training and development of all new members of staff through the onboarding process.
- Promote a rent first culture and ensure the team are proactive in arrears prevention by engaging with tenants, initiating early interventions and identifying support needs
- Have operational oversight of managing accounts in serious rent arrears and be a key decision maker for the escalation of legal proceedings
- Have an awareness and understanding of the court’s procedures and protocols in possession hearings in order to represent the organisation at court in the absence of the Income Officer
- Take the lead on preparing reports in relation to serious case reviews, itemising the involvement of the rents team
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including, the DWP in respect of Universal Credit issues and the Housing Benefit department on complex Housing Benefit matters
- Plan and lead on preparations that will ensure there is the knowledge, skills and resources within the team to manage the Universal Credit “Trusted Partner” portal effectively, ensure compliance with DWP requirements and optimise service delivery

**What we’re looking for in our Income Team Leader**:

- Chartered Institute of Housing Level 5 or equivalent qualification
- Ability to provide strong leadership and contribute to a positive working environment
- Relevant experience of working in an income management service and successfully driving performance to meet key corporate performance targets
- Excellent operational knowledge of effective rent collection procedures and legal tools in the control and management of rent arrears
