Our client is an independent specialist provider of neurological rehabilitation for adults with neurological conditions including acquired brain injury (ABI) and progressive neurological disorders. We offer high quality care that promotes and supports the bestrehabilitative outcomes possible.
This role:

- specialist neurological Occupational Therapy (OT) to patients with acquired neurological conditions and disabilities across various pathways including acute neurorehabilitation, neurobehavioral management and rehabilitation, complex care, and assisted independentliving.
- Manage a defined caseload, using evidence-based practise and to work as part of a collaborative and goal
- driven interdisciplinary team, within this brand-new service.
- Develop expertise in neurological rehabilitation across each pathway.
- Provide leadership and support development other OT's, AHPs, assistants and wider staff group through supervision, induction, training and education.
- Maintain clinical records in accordance with legal requirements and professional standards
- Identifying occupational therapy and joint-disciplinary goals as part of the patient's goal planning process with the patient, family/care givers and the inter-disciplinary team (IDT)
- Utilising assessment results to plan and implement specialist treatment approaches for patients, with cognitive, physical, and behavioural needs in conjunction with family/carer givers, IDT and agencies both internal and external to the service.
- Respect the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of patients and contribute to a service that is sensitive to these needs.
- To be responsible for attaining and maintaining own neurological competencies to establish professional competence to practice as an Occupational Therapist as required by the Health and Care Professions Council.
- Demonstrate on-going personal development through participation in internal/external development training opportunities
- Support the service to develop its practise in line with new evidence-based research or outcomes from recent projects.
- To support the Lead Occupational Therapist in the day-to-day running of the team and support other occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants and students as appropriate.
- Assess for, prescribe and fit a variety of equipment to facilitate independent and maintain safety during activities of daily living. Liaise with external agencies for equipment provision, as necessary. Maintaining stock levels of equipment
- To complete Occupational Therapy interventions in a wide array of environments; in South Newton, patients' home, family members home, public spaces etc
- Development of rehabilitation support plans for patient to participate in a 24/7 rehabilitation approach with support from staff as required.
- To assist with neurological education to AHPs, Nursing and Rehabilitation support staff, students on placement and external agencies and manage a caseload independently with supervision from the Lead OT.
- To communicate effectively with patients regarding their treatment goals, likely outcomes, and rehabilitation plans, taking into consideration differences and difficulties which may include but not limited to, sensory loss, communication and cognitive impairmentsand mood disturbances. To ensure this is done in a way that respects their views, autonomy, and culture.
- Liaise with patients, family/care givers and other professionals within the IDT, external agencies about the patient's rehabilitation programme.
Requirements:

- Qualified in Occupational Therapy and registered with the RCOT
- Registered with the HCPC.
- Educated to degree-level or equivalent
- Masters' degree in related field
- Evidence of CPD and continued learning
- At least 2 years' experience in relevant health or social care setting
- Experience in neurology of at least 6 months, and of specialist rehabilitation
