Vacancy Description

Shaw House is a renovated 16th century manor house owned and managed by West Berkshire Council. It has a thriving meeting and conference business, stages many events and is open to the public on over 120 days a year for viewing.

The Cafe is central to our business serving delegates throughout the week and many other visitors coming to our events and public open days. Following a retirement we are recruiting a permanent Catering Assistant.

We are looking for an individual who will be able to provide excellent customer service to all those using the Cafe whilst maintaining a tidy, clean, operable and hygienic facility at all times. Whilst there is no food preparation involved you must have an understanding of food hygiene and the associated risks and be diligent in carrying out all the tasks associated with the role.

You will work under the guidance of the duty managers but will be left unsupervised and expected to complete everything that is required to ensure the smooth running of the Cafe on a day to day basis. In addition to general catering duties this will include but not be limited to cash handling, receiving and recording deliveries, stock control/ordering and overseeing the laundry collection/delivery.

The role is Tuesday to Friday across the full year with the standard hours being 8:00-16:00. There is an expectation, in common with other staff at Shaw House, of flexibility in availability including some weekend and evening working depending on events.

Interviews will be week commencing 06/03/2023.
