Employing 6000 people, we design and build trains at Derby, the UK’s largest train factory; and operate major sites at Widnes, Crewe, Ilford and Plymouth, and 30 train services depots across the UK and Ireland.

Now we are also part of a joint venture to design, build, and maintain the next generation of very high speed trains for HS2, delivering Europe’s fastest operational train, capable of operating at maximum speeds of 225mph (360 km/h). The fleet will be 100% electric and be one of the world’s most energy efficient very high speed trains with aerodynamic design, regenerative power and the latest energy efficient traction technology.

Employing nearly 200 people, our ultra-modern Transport and Technology Centre at Widnes is our major refurbishment facility for rolling stock where we upgrade trains to keep them up-to-date and comfortable. Currently we are working our our iconic Class 390 Pendolino tilting trains upgrading on-board facilities and services.

Over a 2-year program, our Apprenticeships combine academic college studies with real life work-based experience across our organisation. You will have the opportunity to build and gather evidence of your competence whilst working towards a formal Business Administrator Level 3 qualification.

Your day to day activities will involve learning about and supporting operational activities around the refurbishment and overhaul of rolling stock and components.

You will be working as part of a multifunctional team responsible for the overhaul and refurbishment of trains and equipment.

You will undertake a planned rotation within appropriate departments in order to gain the skills, and competence to complete the Standard requirements. In addition, you will attend education both part
- time and on block release to achieve the Knowledge, Behaviours and, Competencies as required by the apprenticeship.

Attendance outside of standard work patterns should be expected. You will also undertake internal training not covered by the Standard.

In line with the Apprenticeship Standard, you will learn about all elements of Railway Engineering Administration and the industry and eventually specialise in Business Adminstration.

**Key Duties**:
Manage your own learning against ILP (Individual Learning Plan) and be accountable for development of your Apprenticeship portfolio as required by the Apprentice Standard.
Attend training provider courses full time or day release as requested; Leading to completion of a level 3 Apprentice Framework
Operate at an appropriate level carrying out designated tasks within the team assigned.
Participate in company initiatives, in particular to be engaged in Continuous Improvement activity targeted at all aspects of Alstom performance.
Participate in STEM & other Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives
Conduct oneself at all times in a manner that reflects positively on Alstom.
To comply with Alstom Procedures and the Code of Ethics
You will undertake a planned rotation within appropriate departments in order to gain the skills, and competence to complete the Standard requirements. Engage with production and wider operations team at Widnes as required
