**Housekeeper**

**Job Title**: Housekeeper

**Responsible to**: Service Manager

**Hours of work**: The post holder will be required to work 13 hours per week, across two sites in Chesterfield, in our supported accommodation 10 hours and at our Head Office 3 Hours. Start and finish times are flexible and can be discussed. There is also the opportunity to gain more hours if required working at our other sites in Chesterfield to cover sickness and holidays. **Salary**: £10.18 per hour

**Knowledge**:

- Some knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations as they relate to the operation of cleaning equipment and the dilution of cleaning materials
- The importance of hygiene in the work context
- The danger of mixing chemical cleaning products

**Experience**:

- Experience of undertaking a wide range of domestic cleaning duties

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Ability to show consideration and support for other staff members
- Ability to work in an organised and methodical way
- Ability to carry out tasks to the required standards without close supervision
- Ability to organise work schedules to meet time restraints
- Ability to demonstrate commitment to Equal Opportunities policy

**Personal Qualities**
- Willingness to clean any of The Elm Foundation sites as requested by your manager
- Work responsibly and safely at all times to ensure a good standard of work
- Willingness to participate in further training and development opportunities offered by The Elm Foundation to further knowledge

- Hardworking, methodical, organised, honest and reliable

A full, clean driving license and the use of a car is desirable.

**Specific Duties and Responsibilities**
- To carry out all the cleaning tasks at the head office. You may be asked to cover sickness or holidays at one of our supportive accommodation

**When a room becomes vacant the following needs to be completed within 24 hours**:

- Clean bedding and pillowcases (includes washing and drying quilt and pillows)
- Wash towels and replace with fresh towels
- Clean windows (internally)
- Hoover the floor and clean under the bed
- Wipe skirting boards and windowsills
- Dust corners of rooms and dust with extendable feather duster the ceiling and around light shade/curtain pole/smoke alarm etc.
- Clean on top of wardrobes
- Clean door handles and light switches
- Clean all furniture in the room including in drawers
- Clean medicine cabinet
- Empty waste bin and replace bin bag
- Remove any left-over food from food cupboard
- Mop the floor in en-suite bathrooms
- Clean sink, taps, toilets, mirrors, baths/showers including removing shower heads to clean
- Check portable equipment for damage and report to staff if items are damaged
- Inform staff if items are missing in room
- Complete room inventory ready for new file

**Communal Areas**:

- Clean all bathrooms and toilets, including restocking toilet paper and blue roll
- Hoover and mop all communal floors
- Wash tea towels and put out fresh ones
- Clean windows (internally)
- Wipe down doors, door handles, skirting boards, bannisters, handrails and light switcdhes
- Dust ceiling/corners using extendable duster
- Restock residents cleaning cupboards
- Empty office bin
- Mop office floor
- Ensure housekeeping cupboard is tidy and organised
- Change lightbulbs when required

**Weekly tasks**:

- Dryer checks and record

**Monthly tasks**:

- Temperature checks for fridge/freezer and record
- Clean microwaves, fridges and freezers
- Check portable equipment for damage and report to staff if items are damaged and record

**Quarterly tasks**:

- Clean behind fridges and freezers
- Clean ovens

**Six Monthly tasks**:

- Clean curtains (in rooms and communal areas)
- Clean cushions and other soft furnishings
- Clean carpets using powdered cleaner

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 13 per week

**Salary**: £10.18 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday

Work Location: One location
