**Mechanical Tester**:
**What you need to know about the role**
The purpose of this role is to operate a comprehensive range of precision equipment associated with the preparation and physical testing of Works’ product within defined parameters. You will initiate the release and certification systems in support of customer service aspirations.

Carrying out a rapid and comprehensive mechanical testing and certification services you will take account of customers ordered requirements and specification parameters. This requires you to exhibit high standards of integrity as arbiters of acceptability for Works’ product. The service is vital to support the delivery capabilities of our Mills.

You will work with a range of manual and CNC controlled tools to tight tolerances as defined in international standards. You will work towards daily product release targets to support the business to release around one million tonnes of product each year. Right first time, on time, safely are the most important aspects of the role.

As part of a multi-disciplined team you will use your skills to achieve business objectives, you will work to engineering drawings to develop CNC programs, react to engineering, quality and safety issues as they arise and utilise your knowledge, experience and skill to initiate corrective actions.

This role is working 4 on 4 off Shift Pattern (No Nights)

**What we need to know about you**
We looking for someone preferably educated and qualified to NVQ Level 3 or be time served in a technical or engineering based discipline. Ideally you will have a technical understanding of the Mill operations and related supply chains customer/service requirements.

Other key attributes include:

- Knowledge of the integrated iron and steelmaking process.
- Effective communication skills.
- IT literate
- Thorough knowledge of all Test House activities to enable total flexibility of operations within the department
