Mansfield, United Kingdom Classroom Recruiters Full time

**Join Our Team as an EBD Specialist**

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties (EBD)? We’re seeking an exceptional EBD Specialist to join our team immediately. This is your opportunity to profoundly impact a child’s life at a forward-thinking and nurturing school in Mansfield.

**Salary**: £18,000 - £21,000 pro rata

**Full-Time**: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 15:30.

**Start Date**: September (New academic year)

**The Role**:

- **1:1 Support**: Provide individualized support to a child with EBD, helping them succeed in a mainstream school environment. Your close relationship with the child will be key to understanding and meeting their unique needs.
- **Small Class Setting**: Be part of a small class led by an outstanding teacher who is skilled at adapting to each student's needs. This setting allows for focused and personalized support.
- **Inclusive Environment**: Benefit from the school’s excellent facilities and holistic approach, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment tailored to the child’s needs.
- **Full-Time Commitment**: This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 15:30, with the possibility of extending through to September.

We’re looking for someone with the right mix of experience, skills, and passion. Here’s what we need:

- **Experience with EBD**: Essential hands-on experience with children who have EBD. You understand the complexities of these difficulties, including their impact on learning, behavior, and social interactions.
- **SEN Strategies Knowledge**: Proficiency in Special Educational Needs (SEN) strategies and interventions. Your ability to implement and adapt these strategies will be crucial in supporting the child’s emotional and behavioral development.
- **Behavior Management Skills**: Proficient in managing and positively redirecting challenging behaviors. Skills in de-escalation techniques and reinforcing positive behaviors are essential to create a supportive and safe learning environment.
- **Empathy and Patience**: These are non-negotiable qualities. Your deep understanding of the experiences and challenges faced by children with EBD will help you connect with the child, while your patience will enable you to support them at their own pace.
- **Adaptability and Creativity**: The ability to think on your feet and adapt your teaching methods is crucial. Creativity in your approach will engage the child and facilitate their emotional and behavioural growth.
- **Strong Communication Skills**: Effective communication with the child, their family, and your colleagues is vital. Building a strong, collaborative network around the child is essential for their progress.
- **Experience with Complex Needs**: While not essential, experience with children who have complex needs is a significant bonus. This experience will equip you with a broader range of strategies and a deeper understanding of the varied challenges these children can face.
- **Formal Qualifications**: Ideally, you possess a Level 2 or above Teaching Assistant qualification or an equivalent. Your formal training will be instrumental in providing structured and effective support.

**Responsibilities**:

- **1:1 Support**: Build a trusting and effective working relationship with the child, understanding their unique needs and providing individualized support.
- **Specialized EBD Experience**: Utilize your experience working with children aged 4-11 years old who have Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties to adapt your strategies accordingly.
- **SEN Strategies and Interventions**: Implement and tailor a variety of strategies to support the child’s emotional and behavioral development, as well as their academic learning.
- **Build Strong Relationships**: Form meaningful connections with students, families, and colleagues. Effective and empathetic communication is key.
- **Collaborate with Colleagues**: Keep detailed and updated care plans, working closely with the class teacher to adapt and refine strategies as the child’s needs evolve.
