Renal Unit Receptionist
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a full-time ward clerk/receptionist to join our renal team. The unit compromises of the renal inpatients ward and the dialysis unit. The Renal Unit provides care for patients who have kidney failure which includes patients requiring dialysis treatment and transplantation.
This position is a key and highly valued member of the team. The post is an integral part of the unit in providing an effective reception, clerical and administrative service to patients, visitors and nursing staff in order to support the delivery of optimum patient care.
We are looking for someone who is organised and efficient and can work without direct supervision.

There will be other specified tasks to meet patients’ individual needs as determined by the unit manager/nurse in charge.
Please ensure you read the job description and person specification carefully. Previous experience of working in the healthcare setting or with the public is desirable.
You will work in the Renal Unit across both the inpatient ward and the dialysis unit, which are based in the one area. You will be expected to provide an effective reception, clerical and administrative service to patients, visitors, and nursing staff in order to support the delivery of optimum patient care. In addition you provide support to nursing staff thereby ensuring that nursing time is spent primarily with the patient. You will also be expected to act as the initial point of contact for patients, visitors and callers to the unit ensuring their needs are met promptly and politely. Another main duty will be assisting the unit staff in the smooth running of the unit ward by taking responsibility for the routine, administrative aspects. As well as overseeing the management of patient medical records on the ward on admission and post-discharge including overseeing the bookable follow-up care.
