**About the Role**:
Strong capabilities in battery engineering is required to underpin the deployment of all our core technologies. This role is required to establish our research activities across new chemistry integration, modelling and control. The successful applicant will be required to lead a team of HW and SW and cell engineers to ensure the right projects are identified and delivered on time in collaboration with internal and external partners

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Populate and align the company battery and battery subsystem technology roadmaps
- Identify & develop academic engagement with appropriate UK entities
- Identify & develop cell, BMS and integration research priorities
- Simulate, optimize and specify battery systems
- Work with the controls HW & SW teams to specify first-off prototypes
- Work with the CAE Team to establish correlated and re-deployable models
- Work with key suppliers to deliver high quality test data
- Establish system requirements and use cases within our requirements management toolset
- Establish core functional safety concept for deployment into multiple solutions

**Required Education & Experience**:

- Deep knowledge of automotive relevant cell chemical systems
- Knowledgeable in CAE based optimization processes
- Hands-on experience of cell characterisation and testing
- Experience with thermal & electrochemical modeling
- Experience of BMS control of Li-ion cells
- Experience of working in automotive powertrain development
- Familiarity with cell architectural design considerations and influence on automotive relevant parameters
- Experience of first-off prototype development
