Boarding House Parent

Westbourne School is looking for a reliable and compassionate live-in Boarding House Parent to join our caring boarding community.
We are seeking a friendly and responsible individual or couple to cover our boarding house over weekends when our Boarding House Parent has the weekend off.
The hours are 4pm Friday - 9am Monday, which typically equates to 41 hours pay. Applicants must stipulate their preference for number of weekends worked a month. Full board and accomodation is provided during shifts, as well as free parking. Cover is only typically required during term time and half term holidays (40 weeks per year) with a basic holiday allowance paid during periods of school holidays.
Additional hours during the weekday evenings may be available as an opportunity for overtime.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Ensure the 40 students, aged 13-17, are well cared for
- Maintain positive family atmosphere
- Report any unusual incidents
- Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
- To have a clear understanding of the national minimum standards for boarding schools (NMS) and how the role fits into these
- Supervise pupils on local visits, trips and activites as required
**Person Specification**
- Compassionate and caring approach
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both students and staff
- Ability to work well with others as a team member
- Ability to work with initiative and without direct supervision when required
- Ability to interact well with children and young adults
- Prior experience of working in a boarding house is desirable
