The rate: £19.47 per hour. (7 hours per day)

The Textiles Yarn resource team is looking for support for the role of Technical Instructor in Textiles Yarn Resource This will be a casual worker contract from February 2024.The Purpose of the post and relevant skills are listed below.

Purpose of the post:
Providing technical assistance, guidance and instruction to a wide range of students within the Yarn Resource.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing technical instruction, support and advice on yarns and fibres. Winding of yarns requested by students.- Charging for the yarns using iZettle.- Ongoing learning through making and skills sharing as part of a dynamic team.- Maintaining specialist equipment and safety and keeping accurate records.- Supporting College Teaching, Learning and Research activities that may require Textiles and yarn knowledge and skills as appropriate.- Comply with all Royal College of Art policies and procedures.- Monitor and maintain a safe working environment following H&S policies and procedures employed for managing Health and Safety.
- Undertake any other duties consistent with the role as required and in agreement with the Specialist Technical Instructor and Technical Services Coordinator for Fashion and Textiles.

Personal Specification:

- Significant, highly skilled, specialist knowledge and experience with a variety of processes for working with Textiles and Fashion.
- Demonstrable knowledge of health and safety best practices within a workshop environment, including an understanding of Risk Assessment procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use initiative and work as part of a team.
- Excellent organisational, time management, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent user focus and a flexible approach.
- Experience in creating online learning materials and using online booking systems such as Moodle.
