An exciting opportunity has arisen for a specialised Cardiac Physiologist with suitable experience in cardiac diagnostics to join our friendly team.

We currently undertake a wide variety of non-invasive and invasive tests including ECG, Ambulatory Monitoring, Tilt Table Testing, Exercise Tolerance Testing, Echocardiography (including Dobutamine and Exercise Stress Echo, Transoesophageal, Contrast and Bubble Studies, Specialist Valve Clinics, Advanced Imaging including Speckle Tracking and 3-D Echocardiography and Research), Cardiac Catheterisation and Permanent Pacing; both implant and follow up.

This is an ideal opportunity for a current band 6 seeking a change, or forward thinking suitably qualified Band 5 who is looking to develop their career in cardiology further. The successful applicant should have the relevant experience of working within a Cardiology Department required to take on this role.

As a band 6 Physiologist you will be required to work without supervision as a competent practitioner. Duties will include cardiac investigations such as Physiologist led exercise testing, tilt table testing, ambulatory ECG analysis, cardiac catheterisation and assisting during pacemaker implantation.

You will be expected to work as an independent practitioner in a range of non-invasive cardiac diagnostics and the catheter / pacing lab.

We also expect the successful applicant to participate in the training and appraisal of junior staff.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

To be technically proficient as an independent competent practitioner in all non-invasive and invasive cardiology procedures to be carried out at the LUHFT cardiac centre which includes:

- ECG/ambulatory monitoring
- Physiologist led exercise testing
- Tilt table testing
- Diagnostic angiography
- Perform basic trans-thoracic echocardiography studies and write a written report, working towards BSE accreditation OR assist with pacemaker follow up clinics and during pacemaker implantation working towards BHRS accreditation

To assist in the clinical management of patients undergoing cardiac investigations

To ensure that all staff are aware of policies and protocols and are working within them. Develop and review documentation regularly.

Raise physiologist profile by promoting good practice initiatives within the Cardiology Directorate

Communicate effectively to patients and other Healthcare Professionals regarding diagnostic tests

To keep up to date with current developments in the field of Cardiology including innovative work undertaken in research

To have an awareness of future implications for development of Cardiology services
