Transactional Finance Supervisor - job description
The role is a permanent position managing a team of employees (currently 6) and overseeing all transactional finance for a fast-growing retail organisation. As the Transactional Finance Supervisor you will provide support and training, developing individuals through regular appraisals and objective setting to ensure they reach their potential. This role will involve looking at process improvements for both ledgers. It's a hands-on role where you will manage the team as well as completing key tasks to ensure you meet objectives and deadlines.

The role will report into the Finance Director.

Duties of the role include:

- Responsible for overseeing all day-to-day transactional finance-related functions including purchase ledger, sales ledger and cash book, ensuring all ledgers are maintained and clean, with allocations up to date;
- Managing a team of transactional finance employees with all relevant HR duties including
reviews and 1-2-1s, performance management, holiday approval and training;
- Liaising with other departments within the organisation, providing advice and information
when required;
- Oversee all purchase ledger functions;
- Oversee all sales ledger functions, including credit control;
- Oversee cash book functions;
- Providing hands on support when required, i.e. during employee annual leave and periods of
sickness;
- Ensuring all staff expenses are valid and in line with organisation procedures;
- Creation and processing of regular payment runs to suppliers, including those in foreign
currencies;
- Check and approve import documentation (C88s) and freight invoices for the Management
Accountant;
- Supporting the team with insurance claims where necessary;
- Contributing towards the development of finance team procedures and the systems used;
- Assisting with audit queries at year-end;
- Work with the team to ensure we offer the best service to internal and external
customers/stakeholders, including our staff in our network of stores nationwide;
- Create a good network of communications internally and work with other departments to improve internal processes;
- Supporting the Finance Director and Management Accountant with other duties as required.
**The Successful Applicant**
- A good working knowledge of purchase and sales ledger;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Management/supervisory experience in a finance-related role;
- Good computer literacy;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software, in particular Excel;
- Knowledge of Sage 200 useful, but not essential;
- Able to multitask and work in a fast paced ever changing environmen
