**Purpose of the post**:

- Putting the people of Gwynedd at the centre of everything we do.
- Carrying out caretaker duties, including cleaning and tidying and carrying out weekly building checks to Caernarfon Centre and Library.

**Responsibility for functions**:
Equipment: Cleaning

**Main duties**:

- Opening/Closing Caernarfon Library Centre including the Public Library and the garage on a daily basis.
- Set the alarm at the end of each working day
- On duty for call outs relating to the building's intruder alarm
- Weekly fire alarm testing and ensuring the Fire Log Book is up to date
- Cleaning the entire building including public toilets and staff toilets in accordance with a daily work schedule
- Cleaning the internal windows of the building in accordance with a timetable and usage requirements
- Order cleaning materials for the building
- Ensure that the garage and car park are tidy and clean
- Collect and sort rubbish waste for recycling/general waste and prepare bins for weekly/fortnightly collection as required
- Report to the Site Manager on building, furniture or equipment maintenance issues.
- Assist in preparing the Library's Community Room for regular meetings/events as required
- Be available if possible to occasionally do additional hours outside normal working hours ie evenings/Saturday afternoons for meetings/events in the Community Room
- Attend staff meetings and training as required, specifically in terms of Site Management/COSHH
- Attend self development training sessions as required and directed
- Responsibility for managing information in accordance with the Council's information management standards and guidelines. Ensure that personal information is handled in compliance with Data Protection legislation.
- Responsibility for self development.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities set out in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council's Health and Safety Policy.
- Acting within the Council's policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
- Responsibility for managing information in accordance with the Council's information management standards and guidelines. Ensure that personal information is handled in compliance with Data Protection legislation
- A commitment to reduce the Council's carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan and to encourage others to take positive action towards reducing the Council's carbon footprint.
- Undertake any other equivalent and reasonable duty that matches the salary level and level of responsibility of the position.

**Special circumstances**:
Working Hours: 20 hours a basic week with the possibility of additional hours according to demand. Training is provided as needed.
