SEMH Teaching Assistant for an Alternative Provision in St Helens

Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: St Helens Contract Type: Full-Time

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and develop their emotional well-being. Your key responsibilities will include:
Supporting the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to meet individual needs
- Providing one-to-one support and small group interventions to students with SEMH needs
- Promoting positive behaviour management strategies and creating a nurturing learning environment
- Building strong relationships with students, offering guidance and emotional support
- Collaborating with other professionals, including therapists and support staff, to create a holistic support system

**Requirements**:

- Relevant experience working with students with SEMH needs, ideally within an alternative provision or special educational needs setting
- A patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to build strong rapport with students
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and the ability to implement them effectively
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Relevant qualifications in education or special needs (desirable but not essential)

To be considered for this position you will:

- have previous school experience and be familiar with the SIMS system
- Be a committed professional
- Be an organised, enthusiastic proactive person
- have satisfactory references
- have a CV must that covers the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any gaps in employment must be explained;
- Have the legal right to work in the UK.
