**The Role**

As a Trainee Careers Adviser, you will join our supportive and hard-working teams in either Workington, Carlisle or Barrow. You will deliver careers guidance to adults who may or may not be in work as well as working with young people to provide careers information, advice and guidance and personal support to those at risk of becoming NEET (not in employment, education or training). You will support people to make decisions about their future careers, including training opportunities and career progression.

**Key responsibilities of the role will include**:

- Proactively managing a caseload of participants providing individual in-depth support throughout their journey from initial assessment through to securing and sustaining gainful employment by
- Providing high quality 1:1 diagnostic career information and advice work
- Working on a 1:1 basis developing comprehensive action plans with individual customers
- Supporting participants to identify and develop transferable skills
- Supporting customers with the use of appropriate online resources
- Planning and delivering group sessions to meet the needs of customers
- Maintaining an awareness and understanding of the local labour market and building and maintaining external relationships to help support participants into suitable employment
- Completing documentation to the required standard and within required timescales
- Following up with customers to ensure advice given has made a difference.
- Achieving contractual targets.

This post is permanent. The hours of work for this position are 37 per week, however requests for part time hours will also be considered.

**About You**

This position offers the opportunity for real life work experience and skills building whilst gaining a formal career guidance qualification. We would be pleased to hear from recent graduates or those wanting a career change

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

- A good standard of literacy and numeracy (GCSE grade 4 / C or equivalent);
- The ability to identify, establish and maintain effective working partnerships for the benefit of customers;
- The ability to keep accurate and up to date records with a good attention to detail. This includes data entry on electronic systems;
- Good interactive skills and the ability to respond to demanding pressures and to meet deadlines;
- An ability to work on own initiative and a proactive approach to problem solving.
