We currently have Band 3 Senior Health Care Support Worker vacancies in our Paediatric Theatres Department. Previous theatre experience isn’t essential due to our in depth orientation programme.

Our Children’s Hospital Theatre team cover multiple specialities including Cardiac, Neurosurgery, Plastics, Burns, Orthopaedics and Trauma services, as well as being the South west’s regional major trauma centre.

We require everyone to be fully flexible across all shift patterns, including weekdays, weekends, nights and bank holidays

Our in house education team support our newly appointed staff with a tailor made orientation programme, developed by the department to meet the needs of any staff member regardless of previous experience. The education team’s expertise allows a comprehensive plan of learning and continuous assessment. The team work both clinically and non-clinically within the department, offering hands on support and teaching.

There are opportunities for career progression with the Operating Department Practitioner BSC Apprenticeship and the Registered Nursing degree apprenticeships (RNDA’s).

We are looking for highly motivated and flexible individuals to join our busy team. The role will include supporting the registered practitioners and wider multidisciplinary team during the perioperative journey. You will have good communication skills, deliver a high standard of care to our patients and have the ability to prioritise tasks whilst working under pressure.

Shift Patterns

For a full time member of staff the shift pattern would be across the 7 day week with 4 shifts / week consisting of x3 earlies 0745 - 1800 and x1 late 12:00 - 21:30 and then an 'on call' from 21:30 - 0745 the following day.

This is 37.5 hours plus any additional hours based on emergency workload during the on call period
