An exciting opportunity has arisen within Wiltshire Council for an Apprentice GIS Application Engineer to join our forward thinking, innovative IT Service Delivery Team.

**About the role**

This role is part of the ICT Applications team and will primarily managing the councils geographical information systems (GIS). Working collaboratively with the service areas within the Council. You will provide help, support, guidance, consultancy and training to service users to help them exploit their use of spatial information (both geographic and address information) in ways that maximise the operational efficiency of each service.

You will be a key point of contact to ensure the compliant use of datasets and licensing under the public sector geospatial agreement (PSGA).

This is an exciting opportunity for somebody looking to kickstart their career as a GIS specialist and develop a knowledge and understanding of IT. This is a technical and customer focused apprenticeship where you well be given the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge of GIS technologies.

**About you**

You will have experience working with GIS technologies and have a firm understanding of Ordnance Survey Mapping and Geographical datasets. Experience of working with ESRI software is desirable, but other GIS software experience is welcomed.
