Personal Care Assistant

Bristol, United Kingdom Partner2Care Full time

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Assistants to provide

personal care, emotional and social support to a physically disabled queer

woman in her own lovely home in north Bristol (BS7 Eastville/St Werburghs

area) and out and about in the surrounding areas, including trips away across

the UK and Europe.

You will play a vital role in enhancing her quality of life, promoting

independence, autonomy and make a vital and meaningful impact on her

physical and emotional well being.

You will receive comprehensive training, support and ongoing supervision,

including a substantial period of shadowing senior colleagues during an

induction and subsequent 3 month trial period.

You will become part of a supportive and close knit team, who meet socially,

have a varied and interesting daily work load in a predominately relaxed

environment. There will be opportunities to support the client in her social and

leisure activities such as traveling to music festivals.

You will work according to a fixed 4 weekly rolling rota, which will include day

time shifts, sleeping overnight, weekends and on call shifts. Such a rota

enables you to know your schedule and plan your life.

Previous experience of similar work is desired but not essential, with a

willingness to learn, take instruction and use your own initiative, much more

important.

The role allows for a healthy work/life balance and often allows significant

down time even while on shift in which you can study, read, work on small

craft projects and complete brief and discreet life admin tasks providing it

doesn’t interfere with your ability to respond to your client as required.

Our “on-call’ shift system means there is always a specific person allocated

as cover for the “on shift” PA to provide prompt back up in the event of

sickness. We also utilise this system for arrangement of annual leave, always

trying to protect the scheduled “off shift” time wherever possible. This allows

the individual time to supplement their income elsewhere, rest well, complete

life admin and regularly travel for short breaks away.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

Provide physical personal care, including assistance with washing,

showering, grooming, toileting and mobility.

Assist with medication management, ensuring timely administration of

prescribed medications.

Assist with meal planning and preparation, adhering to dietary requirements

as necessary.

Accompany the individual to appointments and social outings.

Assist with light housekeeping tasks, such as cleaning, laundry and

organisation to maintain a clean, safe and accessible environment.

Provide emotional and social support, engaging in meaningful conversations,

participating in or facilitating recreational activities, aiming to improve client’s

emotional wellbeing by leading a more active social life.

Support in monitoring and reporting, as necessary, changes in physical and

emotional condition to appropriate medical professionals, colleagues and

family members.

Be available and fit-to-work during designated on-call periods to provide

prompt assistance in case of emergency or as needed.
