**Outreach Youth Worker**
**HOURS**:10 hours a week. 2 x evenings alongside daytime.
**SALARY**:£15:00 per hour
**About Ourside Youth Association**
We provide a safe and welcoming space for anyone aged 11 to 19, offering open access sessions alongside targeted youth work. As the only dedicated youth centre in the area our youth workers see approximately 100 young people every week.
We respond to the ever-changing challenges and issues facing young people in our community. Each young person has a different story and we’re passionate about delivering the support and opportunities they deserve and that will enable them to develop and flourish.
**About the role**

We require individuals with the ability to build positive relationships with young people and encourage & support personal development.
It is essential to have previous experience working with young people in a youth work setting and to have training and/or a degree in a youth work qualification.

Main purpose of job:
To undertake duties and responsibilities under direction and support from the centre manager relating to reaching out to young people in Evesham who currently choose not to access any youth provision; and developing an insight into the needs of young people in order for Ourside to genuinely respond.

Responsibilities, duties and tasks:

- To work directly with young people; building positive relationships and encouraging and supporting personal development in line with The Ourside Youth Association Vision.
- To adopt a preventative working approach by offering support, signposting, interventions

and submitting referrals to prevent or reduce young peoples’ involvement in ASB. To liaise with relevant statutory agencies and local services as part of the preventative response.
- To act as an advocate for young people’s interest.
- To promote awareness and engagement amongst young people in the services and activities provided by Ourside.
- To plan and deliver targeted outreach engagement sessions and services for young people; including those with additional needs.
- To develop relationships within the community to provide locations and support to host and deliver the outreach programme.
- To undertake administrative tasks relevant to the delivery of positive activities. Including providing regular monitoring and evaluation reports to the centre manager, so that the impact of the outreach work can be measured and documented.
- To promote Equal Opportunities in delivery, access and attitude within work undertaken through The Ourside Youth Association.
- To assist with a programme of positive activities that promote equality of opportunity, participation and responsibility and that enable positive activities.

General Duties:

- To understand and adhere to all policies and procedures concerning the Safeguarding of Children and Young people in youth support settings.
- To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities as required by Ourside.
- To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
- To undertake health and safety duties commensurate with the post and/or as detailed in the Ourside Health and Safety Policy.
- To work flexibly as part of a team of committed staff who are entirely focused on improving the lives and opportunities of young people. Including contributing to the team’s understanding of individual and community needs from an outreach perspective.
- To represent the values of Ourside and promote them through personal behaviour and attitude, so that young people have a positive interaction with the worker.
- To carry out responsibilities and activities in line with the Ourside equal opportunities policy and national legislation.
- To handle all details of the young people engaged with during outreach sessions confidentially and in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Part-time hours: 10 per week

**Salary**: £15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Evesham, Worcestershire: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
