**Children and Young People’s Librarian**

**£35k pa, 37 hours per week**

We are offering a fixed term contract for two years and this is a full time role with the benefits of flexible and hybrid working. You will report directly to the Deputy Chief Executive, and you will be responsible for driving the charity’s agenda on literacy and learning for children, young people and families.

**The headline responsibilities of this role include**:

- To act as the professional lead for the service’s entire under 5s and families offer
- To develop and lead a strong literacy and reading offer for chdilren and young people aged 5-18
- To work with the National Literacy Trust _Get Suffolk Reading_ Hub managers to join-up literacy initiative to raise standards for literacy for children, young people and families
- To foster and develop links with all schools in the county through their libraries and/or literacy/English teams to cate a joined-up reading experience for chdilren and young people
- Champion equality, diversity and accessibility across all children and young people’s services.

**The headline key skills for the role include**:

- A sound understanding of the literacy agenda for children nationally including the roles and work of all relevant bodies
- A good understanding of the Suffolk context for children’s literacy
- Knowledge and experience of working strategically within an organisation
- The ability to make decisions and take a lead on service development
- Effective time management and able to prioritise workloads
- Excellent IT skills with working knowledge of Word, Excel, library management systems etc
- Experience of engaging under-served audiences

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract

**Salary**: £35,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Ipswich
