Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation design, develop and manufacture thermoplastic piping systems for civils and infrastructure projects with the industry’s widest choice of water management, surface water drainage, sewer and cable protection systems.

**Role**:
To lead the site’s Health, Safety & Environmental strategic vision in line with the Operational Strategic Pillars. To counsel, support, engage and encourage all levels of the teams to a proactive approach to Risk Management, whilst also challenging leaders in all HSE related aspects to ensure a Beyond Compliance performance in our pursuit of Zero Harm.

**Working Hours**:
This role is Monday to Friday working 08:30 - 17:00.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide strong leadership of Health, & Safety issues by setting the high standards that will drive a continued improvement in safety performance, with a clear target of causing zero harm.
- Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety Regulations and maintain a full understanding of HSE legislation that is appliable to the role and the business.
- Work closely with all departments offering guidance and advice if required.
- Ensure that Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work are in place and reviewed as required for all main tasks carried out by the team.
- Encourage and monitor regular audits such as Managers Level 2 Audits, Manager Employee Engagement Tours (MEET) and Directors Walk & Talks, to ensure visibility and engagement on Health, Safety & Wellbeing issues.
- Ensure that all required H&S control measures are in place and maintained as required.
- Ensure all accidents and major incidents are investigated promptly and thoroughly supporting managers where required.
- Lead regular HSE meetings; providing content to enhance our performance.
- Ensure HSE spend remains within budget.
- Ensure workplace organisation improvements are targeted and maintained by ensuring robust systems are in place and prioritised.
- Create and develop policies, process and training.
- Identify required capital expenditure projects and budget for their implementation.
- Continually drive HSE performance and cultural improvements.
- Create and maintain a monthly HSE pack and KPI information for the site.

**The Person**:

- Relevant previous experience of working within the Health, Safety and Environmental framework.
- Possess advanced PC/Computer skills - MS packages
- Knowledge and experience of delivering safety metrics
- NEBOSH General certificate
- NEBOSH Diploma desirable but not essential.
- Experience of Health and Safety Audits including Risk Assessments
- Previous experience of working in a Plastics manufacturing environment, desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge of Quality Operating System procedures and deliverable, desirable but not essential.
- CMI Level in Leadership & Management or internal LDP equivalent
- A proven ability to motivate and develop a team
- Proven ability to work well within a team
- IOSH Managing Safely
