**Main Purpose**

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Firefighters at the 422 Air

Base Squadron, Royal Air Force Fairford, United Kingdom.

The 422 Air Base Group is looking to recruit a Firefighter to serve as a firefighter/basic life support assigned to a crew
engaged in structural firefighting and rescue operations; driving and operating firefighting vehicles of significant
complexity; and to assist in reducing and/or eliminating potential fire hazards to protect persons, property, or the
environment, and performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures.
As a Firefighter, you will perform basic life support, drive, and operate a variety of firefighting vehicles, to include Airport
Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles. You will also perform structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which
may include large multistoried buildings, industrial areas, and/or base storage facilities. You will also maintain firefighting
equipment and fire station facilities, as well as complying with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and

performing work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.

**Knowledge and Experience Required**:

- Applicants must demonstrate the following:_
- Must have working knowledge of basic and specialized structural firefighting equipment (fire alarm operation, fire extinguisher operations, etc.), techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge and ability to drive and operate firefighting vehicles of a significant complexity, and of the principles of hydraulics as they pertain to water flow, water pressure, water levels, lines (friction) losses, etc.
- Working knowledge of basic and specialized building design, construction, and occupancy.
- Working knowledge of safety requirements as outlined in applicable safety standards, regulations, and/or technical orders.
- Skill in operating communication equipment.

- Hours of work: Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies.
- Will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules, and regulations.
- Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- May be assigned other duties that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the employee.
- May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training. Position may be coded as mission essential.
- A 6-12-month probationary period will be required.
- Overtime may be required.
- May be required to travel overnight to US or other countries in the performance of official duties or attend necessary train.

Employee is required to use all safety equipment and clothing provided by management.
This position is considered operational; therefore, the incumbent is entitled to receive an Operational Firefighter Pay
Supplement for working an approved USAFE ‘as rostered’ shift pattern which may include weekends and public holidays.
This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.
Work will require driving a motor vehicle. A valid CAT C driving license is required.
Position requires the ability to discern colors, contract, and depth.
Communications Center (ECC). May be required to perform duties associated with the operation of aircraft arresting barrier equipment. Employee is required to be certified by the Department of Defense (DOD) Firefighter Certification
System as Firefighter II (includes Firefighter I), HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Operations and obtain certification in
Apparatus Driver Operator (Pumper, Tanker or ARFF)
- as applicable, Mobile Water Supply (WMS) and possess Basic
Life Support Certification, NREMT (Basic). Please note: Training plans will be established and monitored by the supervisor and may specify the length of time the employee has to obtain certification. Some training may require recertification on a regular or intermittent basis.
