**Job summary**:

- The Cultural Diplomacy team aims to use DCMS’ soft power assets to deliver the Government’s economic and foreign policy aims as well as supporting the UK’s role as an international ‘force for good’. The UK’s strength in culture makes it a good foundation for building mutually beneficial relationships between the UK and other countries and their governments as well as promoting our values on the international stage.**Job description**:
The role will include:

- Bilateral culture engagement: working closely with FCDO, the British Council and foreign governments, in particular with the MENA region and the Americas where we have priority countries, collaborating on cultural and heritage initiatives in support of delivering wider government objectives.
- Working across policy areas: working with colleagues in the International Team and wider DCMS policy teams to coordinate strategic policy approaches and to advocate for the role of our sectors in driving economic growth, social benefits and increasing our soft power abroad.
- Ministerial support: providing briefings, advice, and speaking notes to Ministers and senior officials on international cultural policy. Supporting Ministers’ international engagement through foreign travel or hosting incoming Ministerial counterparts and multilateral events.

- Ability to assimilate, distil and present policy options and provide thoughtful and clear advice to senior stakeholders.
- Ability to lead on the development of a range of policy areas simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders and organisations.
- Ability to proactively solve problems, using a wide range of skills and approaches, to defend our sector’s interests and reach workable solutions.

Desirable Skills:

- Experience working as part of a small team to deliver policy successes.
- Experience of preparing written communication for senior leaders, including meeting briefings and policy reports.
- Evidence of effective organisation and project management skills.
- Experience organising international events for visiting Ministers and outgoing trips.
- Interest in international affairs and continued professional development to develop understanding of this area.
- Business case knowledge and experience.
