**RTA Part 8 Paralegal / Legal Assistant**

Our Paralegal role is a starting role for most employees with no or little experience. It allows you to understand the business, the way files are conducted, gives an understanding of the pressures involved in future roles such as carrying your own caseloadand hopefully acts as a springboard to a long legal career.

We currently have an opportunity in our Motor Part 8 department to join the team as a Paralegal where you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of administrative tasks to support the members of the teams in settling RTA (Road Traffic Accident) cases.It is important cases are settled as efficiently as possible whilst helping to achieve Client Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).

**Tasks to be completed by the Paralegal (full training will be provided)**:

- Keep the in-house case management system up-to-date
- Liaising with Courts, Counsel, Opponents, Experts, Witnesses, Insureds and brokers to progress the case.
- Follow up on outstanding instructions, documents and other actions to ensure that responses are received within required timescales.
- Make payment requests using the appropriate payment request process for the client and chase to ensure payments are received and dispatched within required deadlines
- Diarising and updating CRU
- Handlers with basic information to be able to progress the claims
- Complete initial steps in recovery of our Client’s outlay and collate the outcome.
- Undertake minor investigations on liability and quantum so as to provide File Handlers with basic information to be able to progress the claims.
- Undertake administration duties on files, such tasks may include completion of Management Information (MI); drafting write off forms, requesting final bills and dealing with billing queries; and file closure/transfer activities.
- Ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations

**Prior knowledge, skills and experience**:

- Established interest in law either through further education or experience within a process driven legal environment.
- Ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
- Good team worker with the flexibility to do what is required to get a result and ensure client service levels are met.
- Good understanding of IT packages.
- Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow instruction with attention to detail.
