Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, a flexible working pattern will be considered.
**Salary**: £49,500 per annum

Job Introduction
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Carbon Reduction Leader at Skipton Building Society. You will coordinate and drive the Society’s carbon reduction and net zero commitments, so Skipton is at the forefront of best practice, while propelling forward our ambitious reduction strategy.
What you'll be doing
We are looking for a diligent and ambitious individual to lead our carbon reduction efforts. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications & Sustainability, the Carbon Reduction Leader will be the Society’s in-house expert in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Responsible for driving our carbon reduction and net zero plans, you’ll have strong knowledge of decarbonisation and science-based targets, together with excellent organisation and engagement skills to push our commitments into action.
**Key accountabilities include**:
- Responsible for the creation, planning and delivery of Skipton’s decarbonisation efforts to deliver our ambitious goals
- Coordination of a range of primary stakeholders across the business to identify and contribute to decarbonisation progress
- Ownership of the monitoring, analysis and reporting of GHG emissions data across scope 1,2 and 3
- Provide specialist oversight of all carbon reduction-related industry developments, with the support of the Head of Sustainability
- Developing decarbonisation capabilities to grow in-house carbon knowledge and expertise
- Championing our carbon emissions reduction plans to build awareness and engagement across the business
- Propelling the Society to being at the forefront of external carbon developments and innovations within financial services.
What you’ll bring
**Experience**
- A background in successfully formulating and delivering corporate decarbonisation action plans
- Carbon reduction and net zero strategy and project management experience
- Track record of building relationships and influencing senior management
- Experience of developing carbon reduction data capture, analysis and reporting
**Skills**
- Ability to develop and convey strong business cases to support carbon reduction activity and motivate action
- Highly developed communication, networking and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and sustain relationships and influence business wide
- Ability to lead carbon reduction initiatives while supporting colleagues across the business in understanding and maximising sustainability in projects and programmes
- A self-starter with a proactive attitude and problem-solving approach
**Knowledge**
- **
**A strong knowledge of greenhouse gas emissions, science based targets, and transitioning to net zero
- Understanding of low and zero carbon tools, technology and strategies to reduce corporate emissions
**Qualification**
- Educated to degree level
- Sustainability related qualifications
- Good understanding of environmental legislation, carbon and net zero reporting guidelines and latest developments in the field of decarbonisation
