**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title**: _INJECTION MOULDING PLASTICS MACHINE SETTER_

**Responsible to**: _Team Leader_

**Main functions of job**:_To achieve optimum running conditions for Injection Moulding tools, machines and their relevant processes by utilising resources and time available._

**Main task and duties**
- Monitor performance against planned schedules and specific standards including cycle time and Quality Assurance and take action against variances in order to achieve maximum efficiency;
- Maximises the utilisation of raw materials through efficient machine operation
- Ownership of all activities within the moulding element of new product / process introductions
- Conduct material evaluations, analysis and selection recommendations
- Coordinate installation, commissioning and process development / optimisation for moulds and ancillary equipment ;
- Conduct process validations in accordance with internal procedures and external regulatory requirements;
- Monitor and trend production process for utilisation, waste and efficiency and propose process improvement projects;
- Conduct routine Autonomous maintenance checks
- Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental considerations are observed and enforced
- **Supervision**_
- To participate in training and improvement activities and to train others as required
- **New Machinery & Development**_
- Contribute to written specifications / purchase specifications for mould tools, mould presses and all associated ancillary equipment
- Identify process flows and manufacturing plans
- Conduct process risk assessments and risk assessment activities
- Conduct mould trials and fault finding / problem solving
- Raise trials, report results and recommendations
- Liaise with internal customers and external suppliers and consultants
- **Training & Referential**_
- Ensure all referential data used in the production of all products is kept up to date, and is effectively communicated to those who need to use it;
- Provide/facilitate specific training to all specified individuals as and when required, to ensure set down methods and good practice are carried out correctly and in a safe and efficient manner.
- **Reporting**_
- Provide regular feedback to the Team Leader, Production Manager / Process Technician on all aspects of the role, as agreed with the Production Manager.
- **Communications**_
- Ensure communications are maintained at the highest possible level between management and the workforce and keep your manager advised of impending situations which could develop into more serious problems;
- Develop mutual respect with employees, by ensuring that all dealings are objective and impartial
- **Health & Safety**_
- Through good housekeeping procedures ensure that a safe and clean working environment is kept at all times.
- **Administration**_
- Ensure that all reports, studies etc. required are accurate, submitted on time and to the required standard.
- **General**_
- Ensure compliance with the company's Equal Opportunity Policy;
- Any other duties as may reasonably be required.
- At least 4 years’ experience in an Injection Moulding with a hands-on machine setting role.
- experience of structured process improvement and problem solving techniques within an injection moulding environment;
- direct experience of a “real time” machine monitoring system
- ability to complete autonomous maintenance on IMM’s
- ability to work as part of a team good interpersonal and communication skills;
- ability to work shifts and ideally have:

- a 3rd level qualification in a polymer science / mechanical engineering or some other related discipline;
- experience of working with PVC & Polypropylene polymers
- a good working knowledge of Windows based software.
