**Environmental Advisor**

Milestone Infrastructure is currently looking to recruit an Environmental Advisor to work on infrastructure contracts and transport construction projects in Central Bedfordshire.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Environment Team at Milestone Infrastructure, with opportunities to develop yourself and progress within a dynamic and innovative organisation. As the Environmental Advisor you will be responsible for the environmental management of construction projects and supporting the delivery of the ambitious carbon and sustainability targets of our clients.

Milestone Infrastructure sits within M Group Services Transport Division, positioned to support transport clients across the UK. **As the Environmental Advisor your duties & responsibilities will be**:

- Work autonomously and pro-actively to engage and influence key stakeholders (operations teams, clients, regulators etc.).
- Provide technical advice, direction, support and assistance to key internal and external stakeholders, from design to construction, to enable them to manage their environmental duties and responsibilities.
- Liaise with Regulators and assist with obtaining environmental permits, consents, licenses and exemptions.
- Working with both engineers and other environmental specialists to consider all aspects of design development, whilst providing guidance and advice to ensure compliance
- Undertaking environmental assessments on schemes and projects during the design phase, and co-ordinating management of environmental risks, opportunities, and stakeholder/regulator consultation.
- Monitor and advise on compliance with environmental permits, consents, licenses and exemptions.
- Produce internal and external environmental reports.
- Lead on environmental incident investigations, and support and advise on corrective actions.
- Assist in the development and delivery of suitable environmental and sustainability training for staff.
- Carry out internal and external environmental audits on the projects and supply chain.
- Measure, manage and reduce carbon associated with project operations as part of an integrated delivery team.
- Represent and promote the Environment Team in internal and external meetings, workshops, management reviews and forums.
- Communicate best practice standards and initiatives.
- Support contract mobilisation;
**How will you be measuring success, overall competency and capability**
- Compliance with ISO 14001 accredited EMS and relevant environmental permits, consents, licences and permits.
- Actioning environmental risks and opportunities.
- Capturing environmental data and monitoring performance to deliver KPIs for clients, and Milestone Infrastructure.
- Quality of inspections and audits.
- Development and implementation of improvement projects, innovation, and alternative ways of working which add value.
- Delivery of effective environmental training.
- Communication and engagement with delivery teams and the supply chain.
- Collaboration with the wider environment team to deliver the Milestone Infrastructure Environment & Carbon Strategies.
- Effective management, development and performance of direct reports.
- Driving improvements in design processes which align with PAS2080 principles

**Skills & Knowledge Requirements**
- At least 2 years construction industry experience or relevant environmental experience in a similar sector.
- Degree level in appropriate Environmental discipline (ideal).
- Associate or Practitioner Membership of IEMA or equivalent professional membership (ideal).
- Competent IT Skills.
- Good track record of managing ecological, waste and pollution risks on construction projects.
- Knowledge and/or experience of undertaking sustainability, carbon and/or biodiversity assessments
- Strong team player who is self-motivated and self-sufficient.
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel
- Excellent interpersonal skills and commercial awareness.
