**Full Job Title**:Temporary Arborist - Street Scene

**per hour** PAYE To carry out Arboricultural duties as required by the service. Main Duties/Responsibilities:

- To work with the Council’s Tree Officer and the Arborist Team
- To carry out Arboricultural operations and routine tree maintenance
- To carry out pruning in accordance with BS 3998 (2010) - tree work recommendations
- Making safe dangerous trees
- Be prepared to work in emergencies / out of hours and possibly be on a standby / call out rota
- To work without supervision when required
- Ensure that current codes of practice and standards are adhered to
- To carry out work efficiently, effectively and safely in accordance with current health and safety legislative requirements
- To accurately complete all relevant paperwork pertaining to tree works instructions is essential
- To communicate effectively with customers, contractors and partner organisations.

- Qualifications:
- N.P.T.C Certificate or equivalent
- Tree climbing certificate
- Emergency first aid at work or first aid at work +F first aid certificate
- Relevant qualification in the use of chainsaw
- Qualification on performing an aerial rescue
- Knowledge & Experience:
- Knowledge of Health & Safety in an arboriculture environment.
- Knowledge of road traffic legislation.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and COSHH
- Experience of working in an arboriculture environment
- Experience of labouring work or heavy manual work.
- Experience in dealing with the public.
- Previous experience working in a front line customer facing role
- Specific Skills required for this Role:
- Ability to use tree climbing equipment, lowering ropes, lift and carry machinery and must be able to climb to and work at a height of 30 metres
- Cognitive skills to ensure risks are assessed before undertaking duties/activities in line with codes of practice and safe working procedures.
- Dexterity and coordination skills to use equipment such as chainsaws, mechanical wood chippers
