**Job summary**:
We are looking for an Assistant Finance Business Partner to join our Finance Office at the House of Lords. This is an exciting opportunity to utilise your finance expertise to advise and challenge stakeholders, ensuring value for money across Parliament. You will enjoy building relationships with a range of offices and individuals, and be able to support by providing sound guidance, high-quality information, and reports for each office.

This is an opportunity to work on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of 2 days a week on-site at Parliament. You would need to be flexible and ensure that you are able to attend team meetings on-site, enabling you to learn from others in the Finance Office and build networks and relationships across wider Parliamentary offices.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, who enjoys working within a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.

**Job description**:
**You’ll be accountable for **_- _
- Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, budget holders, managers to understand their areas in order to support the delivery of the Administration’s priorities, including ensuring value for money.
- Obtain the necessary information from budget holders and managers for month and quarter-end adjustments such as accruals, prepayments etc.
- Support budget holders in the preparation of Medium-Term Financial Plans, including assisting with pay calculations and budget profiling.
- Assisting in the preparation of business cases by providing the necessary financial information and input into costings
- Assist with developing and maintaining systems to improve financial reporting and accountability, including performance measures.

**What we’re looking for**

Relationship Management**:

- Experience in building and maintaining effective working relationships and networks at all levels, working with internal and external auditors and other key stakeholders.
- **
Analytical skills and problem solving**- Strong analytical skills with experience of analysing large volumes of complex data; the ability to identify problems and risks and propose solutions, seeking guidance and support from senior management, where appropriate.
- **
Communication skills** - Clear and accurate oral, written, and online communications skills, including the ability to explain complex issues to non-finance colleagues, making them easy to understand.
- **Accuracy** **and delivering at pace** - A high level of attention to detail with the ability to work accurately and effectively to meet demanding deadlines whilst remaining calm and focused.

- An understanding of the public sector financial framework as it applies in central government;
- Experience of working in a finance business partnering environment
