**Part-Time: 14 hours per week**

**Hours: Monday and Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm**

**Overtime: Toil or payment in lieu (to be agreed in advance**)

**Reports to: Clinical Director**

**Responsible for: Volunteer Therapists and HR Admin**

**Main responsibilities**:
**Clinical**
- Ensure high quality clinical practice to enable the delivery of an effective service for all ACT services
- Establish positive and active relationships with all clinical staff ongoing regular communication with the Clinical Director for delivery of best service for both our partners and volunteer therapists
- Ensure that any safeguarding concerns raised within clinical supervision are documented and shared with the Clinical Director who will monitor and review the case, in line with ACT Safeguarding Policies and Procedures
- Provide honest and constructive feedback and put in place strategies to address clinical performance improvement where necessary, in consultation with the Clinical Director
- Support volunteer therapists in the clinical use of assessment data to create coherent formulations for each case
- Support volunteer therapists in the use of assessment and formulation data to monitor client progress and outcomes
- Reflect with supervisees on how to work with all aspects of difference in the therapy room increasing cultural competence and ensuring anti-oppressive practice
- Review clinical timescales of clients accessing counselling service in the light of data gathered, ensuring length of interventions is in keeping with clinical need
- Conduct Performance Management process for all volunteer therapists
- Support clinical staff development by identifying learning needs with each; nurture skills and talent to enable people to grow and develop
- Work with the Clinical Director to feed into a clinical training plan that supports individual and team development needs
- Manage allocations of volunteer therapists and inductions of clients into the service
- Manage recruitment of new counsellors (shortlisting, interviewing and inducting)

**Management**
- Support the Clinical Director in the establishment of effective working relationships and referred pathways with specialist services
- Manage referrals, assessments and allocations of clients to volunteer therapists
- Make appropriate use of and attend regular management and clinical supervision and team meetings provided by the Clinical Director
- Manage recruitment process in liaison with the HR admin
- Ensure that the Policies and Procedures in respect of safeguarding and clinical practice are complied with
- Ensure that the Policies and Procedures in respect of GDPR are complied with and to contribute to any updating as required
- Actively manage risks identified in your service area, maintaining risk reports to monitor and address area of concerns and mitigating factors.
- Ensure you have appropriately skilled staff and Trainees on Placement to deliver services
- Working with the Clinical Director to ensure there is a steady flow of Therapists on Placement through sound partnerships with local Colleges and providers.

**Organisation**
- Participate in 1:1s, performance and development, compulsory training programme
- Attend and participate in service/team meetings
- Work within the framework of ACT’s policies and procedures
- Promote the values, behaviours and ethos of ACT
- Respond and report on safeguarding concerns in line with the ACT’s safeguarding policy and procedure
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as and when required

**Person Specifications**

**Qualifications**

Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling or Psychotherapy with current membership of relevant professional body

**Qualities**

Highly organised

Initiative, problem solving and openness to change

A collaborative team player, concerned with team success as well as individual performance

High level of self-motivation and ability to take operational decisions

Good listener who responds well to feedback

Supportive, energetic and passionate about ACT’s mission and values

**Experience**

Post qualification experience as a practicing counsellor or psychotherapist with adults

Experience of managing small to medium teams in clinical settings (desirable)

A sound understanding of quality assurance and effective performance monitoring

Numerate with an ability to understand, analyse and make effective use of data

Ability to multi-task, be flexible and show an ability to manage conflicting priorities

Experience of working with diverse communities and of reflecting with supervisees on how to work with all aspects of difference in the therapy room

Experience of managing safeguarding disclosures and referrals

**Knowledge and Skills**

Willingness to challenge and question therapists’ assumptions and explore alternative and creative solutions

Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely

Sound understanding and awareness of ACT’s equal opportunities policy and a personal commitment
