**Independent Chair of the Safeguarding Group**

The Bristol District of the Methodist Church takes the safeguarding of children, young people, vulnerable adults and adults at risk very seriously. It has a range of policies and procedures aimed at protecting and safeguarding all who attend services and events in its premises and is committed to making churches safe places for all who attend them. Across its 9 circuits, the district is committed to implementing good practice, following the report on the Theology of Safeguarding and critically reviewing its safeguarding actions. The District Safeguarding Group assists and guides the District and the individual churches within the District on the implementation of The Methodist Church Safeguarding Policy.

The District is currently looking to appoint an**:Independent Chair of the Safeguarding Group.**

The Bristol District is seeking to appoint a person independent to the personnel and structures of the district with active experience in Safeguarding. This officer must be committed to implementing safeguarding policies, will have an understanding of or be a person of faith and be experienced at chairing groups of independent professionals.

**Time and Location: Minimum of three meetings per annuum to be held centrally within the District,**
usually Bristol (or via Zoom/Teams). Attendance at other Safeguarding meetings and/or conferences nationally.

**Remuneration: A fixed sum of £150 per meeting of The Group; this is to cover attendance, pre-reading of**
papers in advance of meetings, liaison with the District Safeguarding Officer and Chair of District.

**Terms of Appointment: The post is of a self-employed status. The post is for an initial period of 3 years,**
followed by a review with the option to appoint for a further 3 years.

**Interviews**: 18th of June 2024 in Bristol.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 36 months

Pay: From £450.00 per year
