Here at Hitachi Rail we are recruiting for an experience **Materials Controller** to join our Procurement team on a 12 month fixed term contract. As a **Materials Controller** you will hold responsibility for scheduling and planning of materials for specific production cells, in line with MRP system requirements. Within this role you will also monitor and track top running items to allow forecasting ensuring systems models are maintained using business intelligence and forecast information gathered from SAP and other resources such as customers and supplier data.

As the **Materials Controller** you will form an integral part of a dedicated production cell team, gathering and sharing appropriate information and ensuring targets are met and procedures are followed at all times.

**About you **

Applicants should be able to demonstrate all of the essential requirements listed below:

- Prior experience of planning/procurement role within a manufacturing facility would be desirable.
- Experience of SAP
- Competent IT Skills in Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to work on own initiative.
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Commitment to working as part of a team
- An understanding of health and safety requirements of a working environment
- MRP experience is advantageous.
- SAP experience would be advantageous
- Experience of statistical reporting, forecasting and understanding of financial and operational impacts of forecasting would be beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal skills

**Role responsibilities include**
- Coordinate and execute scheduling activities for assigned part numbers using advanced planning system. (SAP)
- Identify and react to material plans that do not meet Production requirements.
- Monitor and manage any returnable packaging to and from suppliers.
- Analyse data to determine opportunities to decrease inventory, improve Production service levels and reduce total costs.
- Interact with the Master Scheduler to understand demand and forecast.
- Use and maintain MRP data as the primary planning system tool.
- Provide input in developing departmental strategies for inventory on existing items, new product introduction and phase outs.
- Create statistical reports on supplier performance and inventory accuracy.
- Share data with relevant departments and external suppliers.
- Interact with other departments as and when required.
- Work closely with supplier to ensure no areas of concern including monitoring their stock holding
- Execute with excellence in the area of stock and demand replenishment providing feedback to the supply chain on risks regarding replenishment levels and demand.
- To be aware of and actively promote and implement Hitachi’s ethos, culture and values.
- To be involved in Hitachi Rail Europe’s staff development and training and participate in PDP procedures.
- To adhere to the Hitachi Rail Europe’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
