POST TITLE: NIGHT CARE ASSISTANT
Hours of Duty: Variable by mutual agreement.
It will be necessary to carry out some of the duties on weekends.
MAIN PURPOSES OF POST
- To provide waking cover duty during the designated night hours.
- Main Duties include undertaking certain domestic duties as specified by the Officer-in-Charge.
- A sleeper will sleep in a bed provided on the premises and be available to assist the Night Care Assistant if required.
REPORTS TO: Officer in Charge
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To carry out regular discreet checks on all Residents at intervals specified by the Home Care Manager.
- To carry out regular fire prevention and security checks of the Home at intervals specified by the Home Care Manager.
- Under take morning hand overs to ensure that the next shift is aware of the service users issues.
- To answer emergency alarms, assess the situation, deal with the Resident needing help and to summon assistance from another member of staff if required.
- To assist Residents who need help, reassurance, comforting or a drink.
- To ensure that all information that should be given to the Day Staff is recorded and given to the next duty.
- To complete service users records where required on their overall care and provisions.
- Read, digest and contribute to service users care planning and records.
- Ensure the safety and well being of the service users and colleagues.
- Be mindfull of the whistle blowing procedures within the company.
- To assist the Day Staff in preparing Residents for bed or dressing.
- To undertake various domestic duties during the night such as laundry, ironing, table-laying and cleaning as specified by the Home Care Manager.
- Such other duties as may be reasonably required.
Essential: You must be of a good nature, character & well mannered, you must have a caring attitude and have the ability to work of your own initiative. Preferably have your NVQ 2 but not essential as we will have to train you up. Be willing to undertake NVQ 2 with immediate effect. You must be able to get yourself into work and not be constricted by public transport due to the requirements and demands of the business.
**Salary**: £11.15 per hour
