Job description
An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a confident and dedicated SEND specialist to play a pivotal role in leading, developing and supporting practice for pupils with SEND within our school. You would be joining our school at an extremely pivotal time, as we expand our provision for SEMH students and offer Outreach support to all mainstream schools in the Borough of Ealing.
The successful SENCO will ensure access to the curriculum for all pupils with special educational needs and disabilities within EAP and will be responsible for the effective coordination and identification of need, appropriate intervention and monitoring. You will also monitor and evaluate the impact of the interventions for all pupils requiring additional support. You will lead in the development of the curriculum and teaching and learning within the department.
We are looking to appoint a SENCO with:
- Experience of leading in a secondary school or other setting on SEN and Inclusion
- Experience of working with pupils with SEMH and medical needs
- Experience of working in Middle Leadership is desirable
- The ability to oversee and coordinate the work of the SEN teaching team
- Proven classroom ability and practice
- Experience of and a sound understanding of how assessment is used to support learning for SEN pupils
- A good knowledge of strategies for supporting an ethos of positive behaviour management
