We have an exciting opportunity within Siemens Rail Infrastructure to recruit an experienced Project Buyer to be located in our Ashby office. This role will be responsible for the procurement of Project Materials and Subcontracts predominately of railway products, parts & services.

The successful applicant will continually seek to improve efficiency through the development of best practice procurement techniques. You will join a project buying team of 4 people covering projects on a national basis

This position will report to the Head of Procurement for Rail Electrification & CIS

**What are my responsibilities?**
- As the Procurement representative in the Ashby office you will help to promote the presence of the Procurement team in the project(s) in addition to the office and be part of a small regional team for all purchasing requirements with the exception of “Indirect “ purchasing. i.e. IT, office stationery, phones etc
- Responsible for day-to-day ordering and expediting for your given project(s).
- Responsible for obtaining quotations from suppliers where framework agreements are not in place.
- To work closely with Senior Procurement, Project Engineers and PMs
- To obtain from the project, planning & bill of materials information.
- Engagement with key stakeholders is key to the role.
- Ensure early and continuous integration of the Purchasing function into the project.
- Ensuring that the client approved materials/parts are delivered within time, to budget, and to specification.
- Supporting Project Managers to develop and manage project delivery plans.
- Assist Bids & Tendering department in client bid preparation and with support during client negotiations.
- Ensure that timely communication of all internal reports is met.
- Work as a team to enable our department KPI’s are met on activities such as material savings, cost avoidance and electronic e-bid & auctions.
- Fully participate in all relevant Siemens Procurement Management training & process activities.

**What do I need to qualify for this job?**

**Essential**
- 2 years previous experience of working in a project procurement role
- Good communication skills written & oral
- MCIPS qualified ( level 1 - can be developed within role )

**Desirable**
- SAP experience.
- A working knowledge of ERP
- Good interpersonal and persuasion skills.
- Good numerate and Microsoft IT skills.
- Commercially savvy.
- Proactive & challenging.
- Delivery focused.
- Ability to work on own initiative and part of a team & under time pressure.
