Junior Buyer

Orchard Professional Solutions Ltd are pleased to be working with a leading modular building manufacturer who are looking to recruit a Junior Buyer for a permanent position

**Purpose**
- To buy materials, plant and other items as required in line with the business
- Work to deadlines dates
- Ensure that high standard of quality and service is achieved and maintained
- Control costs and minimise the impact of inflation
- Reduce operation costs through negotiation, benchmarking/ category reviews
- Identity and utilise other cost reduction opportunities
- Ensure the business supply chain is capable of supporting business requirements

**Purpose Accountabilities**:

- Ensure materials are bought on time and at or below target costs
- Obtain and negotiate prices, placing purchasing orders in line with business requirements
- Make sourcing decisions based on both cost and non-cost considerations
- Support site requirements including the hire of plant/ skips
- Continually look for opportunities to drive down procurement spend and deliver cost savings
- Challenge cost increases and overspends
- Undertaking the tracking of actual vs estimated/ targeted costs
- Maintain accurate procurement records
- Develop good relationships with internal customers, stakeholders and suppliers
- Resolve supply issues, implementing improvement plans and developing alternatives
- Drive down and optimise stock levels without incurring undue risk
- Ensure invoice queries are resolved in a timely manner

**Experience, Qualifications & Training**:

- 2 years minimum procurement experience
- Experience within the modular building or construction industry
- Good Negotiation skills
- Working towards, or willing to works towards, CIPS Qualifications
- Good standard of education
- Excellent numeracy skills that can be demonstrated
- Extremely well organised, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience of procurement IT systems and competent on Microsoft Excel

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From £23,500.00 per year
