- role description**

**Summary of role**

The post holder will work with colleagues within the organisation and a wide variety of local stakeholders and third sector organisation to support the implementation of the Back to Health Programme. They will work across Hillingdon Hospital and Northwick Park Hospital and will lead the development of the comfort call* volunteering service across the sites.

The post holder will lead the development of the service but will be part of a wider multi agency project team including clinical leadership, NW London ICB, H4All, CVS Brent and Helpforce.

*The comfort call volunteering service will see volunteers calling patients who are on waiting lists or who have recently been discharged from hospital. It is expected that across the two sites volunteers will call 300 patients on waiting lists and 300 patients who have been recently discharged each month.

**Main duties and Responsibilities**

**Project Development**
- Develop standard operating procedure
- Develop calls scripts for volunteers
- Work with partners and stakeholders to develop clear referral pathways
- Develop referral pathways back into the hospital
- Work with colleagues in information governance to ensure all assessments are completed around data access and data protection
- Promote the comfort call volunteer service across the hospitals Trusts

**Service Delivery**
- To better understand the reasons that people are unable to attend their appointments
- Ensure service is developed to capacity with a total of 600 patients being called each month - 300 on waiting lists across the two hospitals and 300 who have recently been discharged.
- To keep a log of lessons learnt and propose service improvements - using a plan, do, study, act (PDSA) cycle. You will share these learnings across NW London to support other sites to adopt the service.
- To engage with other hospitals delivering similar volunteer services in order to develop the service.
- To be responsible for the timely collection of a range of data for the comfort call volunteer service.
- Support development and delivery of role specific training for the volunteers
- Ensure data is being captured and surveys completed - sharing this with Helpforce for evaluation purposes

**Volunteer Recruitment, onboarding and training**
- Be a champion for best practice in Volunteer recruitment, engage with other Voluntary and NHS organisations to share learning and develop successful programmes.
- Ensure Volunteer Management Software is utilised effectively and accurately maintained.
- Develop Volunteering recruitment literature for the service along with; role descriptions, availability schedules and templates
- Attend and contribute to community recruitment campaigns, online and virtual events to promote volunteering and mutual opportunities
- Liaise with Learning and Development and Education as appropriate to ensure that new Volunteers are booked onto corporate induction when required.
- Ensure the accurate and timely entry of new starter information
- Manage and support volunteers within the comfort call volunteer service (in line with Trust volunteering policy)

**Stakeholder management**
- Regular engagement with internal and external engagement
- Regular communications to ensure stakeholders are kept informed about service developments and consulted where needed
- Attendance at regular project meetings with NW London ICB lead, CVS Brent, H4All and Helpforce

**General**

Ensure required paper based records are secure and accurately maintained and retained in accordance with Trust Policy.

**Salary**: £31,163.00-£37,874.00 per year
