**Support Worker - Crisis and Accommodation**
- Hours: 35 Per week, Monday to Friday
- Location: Monmouthshire (Due to the nature of activity required within this role, the post is conducted from set bases (Abergavenny office and various accommodation projects throughout Monmouthshire)
**Participation with 2nd tier on-call rota**
**Purpose of the Post**:This role has a dual focus of work
To provide support and advice to women (and their children) who are accessing our service at the point of crisis. Ensure immediate intervention, risk assessment and safety planning where needed. To provide specialist support to women and children accessing accomodation services in Monmouthshire who are affected by Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and/or Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) and who might be facing multiple disadvantages.
**Specific Responsibilities**
**Crisis intervention project**:
- Deliver specialist, trauma informed VAWDASV support services to women and children who seek safety, support or information often at the point of crisis through our drop-in centre in Abergavenny and also at our outreach centres across Monmouthshire.
- Carry out initial needs and risk assessments to determine what level and type of service is appropriate.
- Support women to identify and engage with their personal safety plan.
- Signpost/refer women to the most appropriate service(s) including external agencies, social services, the police and our own services.
- Process requests for emergency refuge or temporary accommodation, assessing suitability and arranging transportation if needed.
- Complete MARAC Referrals for high-risk clients; ensuring completion of all tasks allocated to CWA following MARAC.
- To make contact with women following PPN referrals received from the police.
- Ensure accurate records are maintained in relation to all aspects of the service, including inputting information into the Information Management System.
- Be fully aware of the child and adult protection procedures, report to line manager any concerns and process referrals when required.
- Work alongside colleagues to ensure the smooth running of all our support services.
- Encourage clients to participate in and give feedback on service provision.
**Accommodation Services**:
- Deliver specialist tailored support services to women and children who are accessing our refuge services and contribute to the creation of safe, trauma informed, welcoming environments.
- As a team, manage the referrals into the service, carrying out Initial Contact Assessments, risk assessments and safety plans with women to ascertain together which services they need immediately and the short-medium term.
- Assist women and children to access dispersed refuge and set up together their licence and housing benefits and other paperwork with them.
- Support women and children to undertake and engage in initial and on-going needs assessments and support plans.
- Support, signpost and refer women and children to the services they wish to engage with for example social services, the police, parenting, health, legal, DWP, housing, homelessness, recreational, educational and cultural services and also Cyfannol’s other internal services
- Support women to maintain licence agreement and help them prepare for their next move on.
- To act as an advocate on behalf of service user encouraging and supporting self-advocacy as appropriate.
- Work with women and children in an empowering and engaging manner, as set out in our Model of Support policy
- Ensure accurate and timely records are maintained in relation to all aspects of the service and case work, including inputting information into our Information Management System.
- Assist in producing qualitative and quantitative data, including for example, the creation of case studies.
- To be fully aware of the child and adult protection/procedures in Cyfannol and report to line manager any concerns /issues in this area.
- Support women and children to have a voice within the organisation and the sector, by for example, encouraging them to complete surveys, give feedback and attend associated events
- Assist in ensuring the safe and effective running of our dispersed refuges including organising reporting general maintenance/repair requirements, and carrying our room turnovers
**General Responsibilities**
- To demonstrate and promote the organisation’s ethos, vision and values
- To represent the organisation at external meetings, public events, conferences and similar ensuring that our reputation is protected and enhanced
- To actively work in partnership with other agencies and organisations to achieve better outcomes for women and children affected by VAWDASV
