**Job Purpose**

To ensure financial reporting, processing and accounts are accurate and communicated effectively to all HOD within the department.

To lead a team that handles the processing of all financial systems including EPOS till system, Saffron stock control system and all cash handling procedures.

To create, implement and manage financial security procedures in Catering & Events to ensure compliance with Finance audit procedures.

The leadership of the following members of Staff:

- Financial Administrator
- Store Supervisor
- Cashier

To support the Director of Catering and the central finance department in the provision of reports and

Data and all other relevant management information to assist in the successful functioning of the department and to ensure we meet and managed budgetary requirements.

**Current/Previous Responsibilities**:

- Processing of invoices
- Admin of accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Management of own workload only
- Processing of purchase orders for approval
- Reconciliation and management of purchasing card
- Safe and Float checks and management of financial records

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

Management and leadership of team members/employees in the Finance team within Catering and Events.

Creation, implementation, and communication of financial performance on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

To lead, manage and progress projects in relation to financial systems such as EPOS till system implementation, Saffron stock control cost updates and point to point invoicing (Electronic ordering, invoicing, and payments).

To highlight trends and opportunities for cost efficiencies and to maximise sales by communication financial reports and information to Leadership Team.

To review and advise on contracts that require retendering, change or improvements and recommending adjustments to contracts or replacements with new supplier (i.e., CD refrigeration and React).

To compile and track accurate financial information daily and advise on monthly forecasted gross contribution.

Influence all HOD’s to ensure we are maximising sales and managing costs through effective sharing of trends and information from audits/observations.

To join tender review panels in relation to new contracts and new suppliers instrumental to the financial reporting (New EPOS till system).

To control and advise on spend prior to budgeted over-spend and function as a ‘gatekeeper’ to the Director of Catering & Events in relation to budgeted spend percentage against sales.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**

A1 Experience and working knowledge of University financial systems: Agresso, Saffron, and other accounting-specific programs.

A2 Knowledge of account and contract management in relation to financial obligations and requirements.

A3 Supervisory, management, and leadership experience including constructive performance management.

**Desirable**

B1 Accounting qualification.

B2 Prior experience of leading a team.

B3 Experience of delivering a tangible financial improvement through influencing others.

**Skills**

**Essential**

C1 Technical knowledge of University finance systems.

C2 Ability to read and understand financial profit and loss accounts, income and expenditure accounts.

C3 Ability to lead and manage the performance of team members in new projects and prioritise their work to deliver a range of services within the department.

C4 Character and manner that engages and encourages collaboration and teamwork.

**Desirable**

D1 Accounting qualifications.

**Experience**

**Essential**

E1 Accounting procedures, budgeting, and pricing in retail environment.

E2 Experience of University Systems, Kinetics, Saffron and Agresso.

**Desirable**

F1 Working in a different sector as well as higher education and being able to bring effective new ways of working in to enable more efficient and effective working.

F3 Previous experience of leading a team through change and delivering financial and business improvement

**Terms & Conditions**

This post is full time (37.5 hours per week) and open ended.

Salary range: £26,000 - £35,000 per annum.
