A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a commercial-minded and enthusiastic Commercial Officer to join an established and forward thinking organisation. They are looking for someone with a creative and pragmatic approach to problem-solving to join the commercial team. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks which includes providing advice and analysis of commercial risk in the business, commercial sales, and procurement guidance.
**The Role: Commercial Officer**
- Reviewing and approving call-off contracts under a wide variety of framework types;
- Drafting sales and procurement agreements;
- Analysis and negotiation of contract terms and conditions;
- Analysis and agreement of NDAs, MOUs, teaming agreements, and joint ventures;
- Reviewing and approving proposals, prime, and subcontracts, to ensure they adherence to company governance requirements and procedures;
- Providing commercial support to bid teams, including supporting the development of the commercial elements of tender responses and influencing early bid strategy;
- Commercial risk identification, mitigation, and management;
- Providing commercial support throughout contract delivery;
- Input to approvals processes, attendance, and input at bid and governance meetings;
- Training non-commercial staff in commercial and procurement issues;
- Development of commercial processes and procedures.
**Required skills of the Commercial Officer**:
- Degree in Law, Business Studies, Engineering, Science, Technology, or similar;
- 5+ years of experience working as a Commercial Officer, Commercial Contract Manager, or similar;
- Experience in sales or procurement commercial management and willing to work in both fields;
- Experience working in engineering, defence, aerospace, or government organisation would be preferred;
- Strong negotiation skills especially in complex contract terms with suppliers or clients;
- Must be eligible to achieve security clearance.
**Desirable qualities of the Commercial Officer**:
- Understanding of contract law and ITAR;
- Knowledge of contractual documents including NDAs, MOUs, sub and prime contracts;
- Knowledge of intellectual property rights and protection, including exploitation agreements, software licensing, reseller agreements.
