- Job descriptionPURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To investigate criminal allegations misconduct matters and serious complaints involving members of Northamptonshire Police.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. To investigate Police Officer and Staff Perpetrated crime allegations. To conduct crime enquiries in line with the strategy set by the Senior Investigating Officer, including but not limited to, arrest, securing and preserving evidence and interviewing. To manage disclosure for criminal matters in line with CPIA. To liaise with CPS, to undertake court preparation and attendance. To support and liaise with victims throughout in accordance with victim codes of practice.

2. To deliver the investigative strategy on behalf of the appropriate authority for misconduct and complaints investigations into members of Northamptonshire Police. To include but not limited to the preparation and service of appropriate notices in line with Police Regulations, gather evidence and conduct interviews. To prepare comprehensive reports upon which the appropriate authority can make an informed determination as to the conduct/complaint.

3. To liaise with and make referrals to the IOPC relating to criminal, conduct and complaint matters and Death or Serious Injury following police contact (DSI).

4. To identify, through the lessons learnt process, issues which pose a risk to the force and ensure these matters are brought to the attention of the Appropriate Authority.

5. To provide specialist knowledge and support to the wider force in relation to professional standards and to deliver training inputs as required.

6. Any other duties or tasks as required within the scope of the role.

**Recruitment and Selection Policy**

Internal applicants who are at risk of redundancy or in need of redeployment and pass the selection process, will be offered the role over the remaining internal and external applicants.

Please be aware that the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner and Northamptonshire Police are separate employers. Although Police internal vacancies are open to OPFCC staff and vice versa, if you are successful, the change of employer will require a longer onboarding process and you will receive a new contract and payroll number. Service with either employer can be carried over as continuous service.

**Police Barred and Advisory lists**

Individuals placed on the Police Barred and Advisory lists will not be considered for employment by the Police or OPFCC for a minimum of 5 years from the date of listing in the case of gross misconduct, or 3 years from the date of listing in the case of poor performance.
