**Salary**: £22,000 - £24,000 per year (depending on experience)

Tezlom are looking for passionate Senior Support Worker for a Children’s Home in Huddersfield. You will work as part of a team to provide high-quality care and support for children and young people living in a residential children’s home.

You will be supporting children aged 16 years plus that are UASC and care leavers in a 5-bed home.

You will be responsible for supporting children to develop their independence, life skills, and social and emotional wellbeing. You will also ensure that the home provides a safe and nurturing environment for children to live.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Work closely with the Service Manager to ensure that the children’s home provides high-quality care and support that meets the needs of children and young people.
- Participate in the care and support planning for children living in the home, ensuring that their individual needs are identified and appropriately addressed.
- Provide basic care and support for children, including personal care, meal preparation, and support with household tasks.
- Support children and young people to develop their social and emotional wellbeing, and to develop independent living skills.
- Engage in creative activities and play with children to promote their physical, social, and intellectual development.
- Implement routines, boundaries, and consequences appropriately and consistently, in line with the home’s policies and procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate progress and development of children living in the home, recording observations, and providing feedback to the Team Leader or Service Manager.
- Work with other members of staff to ensure that the home is maintained to high standards of cleanliness, safety, and comfort.
- Ensure that health and safety procedures are implemented throughout the home, in line with regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Engage in professional development opportunities as appropriate, attending staff training and development sessions to improve personal and professional knowledge and development.

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- A minimum NVQ Level 3 in health & social care or childcare or related degree or professional qualification in a relevant field.
- Practical experience of working effectively with children/young people in care with a range of complex needs, as well as previous experience of operational/staff management within a social care environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge of working with children and young people known to be vulnerable and/or who have experienced trauma, with the ability to develop and implement appropriate strategies.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with children, staff, and other stakeholders.
- A commitment to promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and an understanding of the legislation, guidance and good practice that support the delivery of high-quality care in residential children's homes.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills with the capacity to take a positive and proactive approach to change management.
- Ability to demonstrate resilience in the workplace and to cope with change.
- Understanding of Ofsted inspection frameworks and associated regulations.
