I am working with a Public Sector Organisation based in Tameside who are looking for an Accounting Assistant for 3 Months Initially.

The role is full time, to start ASAP and paying £15 PAYE per hour.

Job Purpose
- To maintain the integrity of the Sales ledger system(s).
- To maintain the integrity of the Purchase ledger system(s).
- To ensure all income is receipted, reconciled, safely stored and banked.
- To ensure the records and paperwork are kept in a manner which complies with College and Audit procedures.
- To assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
- To provide cover for the financial review of the monthly payroll and to assist with ad hoc payroll duties as necessary
- To provide cover as necessary for Financial Services department and as directed by the Head of Finance commensurate with the level of responsibility for the post.

Duties and responsibilities
- Support the Management Accountant with the preparation of monthly Management Accounts including tasks such as balance sheet reconciliations, spend analysis and ad hoc forecasting work
- Support the management Accountant with the preparation of the annual financial statements
- Support the Head of Finance with the annual budget cycle and quarterly forecasting
- To provide financial support to project managers in achieving their goals on externally funded projects.
- To maintain the integrity of the Sales ledger including setting up new sales accounts, raising invoices, credit notes, receipts and posting of relevant entries onto the financial system(s).
- Post any receipts to the Prosolution system and reconcile on a timely basis.
- Ensure the timely despatch of invoices and statements to customers
- Responsible for the reconciliation and banking of all monies collected at each site and ensure these are recorded correctly on relevant systems.
- Issue/control petty cash and oversee the imprest accounts at each site.
- Liaise with College bankers and security services.

Experience
- Experience with accruals and prepayments is essential.
