**Multi-Trade Builder with a focus on carpentry**

**JOB DETAILS**:
Up to £180 per day, depending on experience.
Full-time
Permanent
Self-employed

**SUMMARY OF JOB MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
- Minimum 2 years of carpentry/ construction experience.
- Full and valid UK Driving Licence with your own vehicle preferably a van.
- Fluent in English (both spoken and written).
- You own hand and battery power tools (e.g. impact gun, circular saw etc).

**WHAT WE DO**:
We predominantly work on medium to large residential extensions, renovations and new build developments within the mid-Essex area. Most of our work is within the Essex Districts and Boroughs of Chelmsford, Brentwood, Basildon, Thurrock, and Castle Point but, on occasion, we will go slightly further afield for smaller jobs.

**COMPANY CULTURE**:
We have a permanent core team with specialist tasks being carried out by our network of subcontractors. Although our subbies run their own companies, we are all a team and everybody pulls in the same direction making sure the working environment is productive and pleasant.

**HOW WE OPERATE**:
We have a Site Manager overseeing all live projects, dealing with the customers and scheduling works. We have a team of two Multi-Traders on each site progressing the build, with specialist subcontractors scheduled when necessary. On occasion, when we need 'all hands on deck', we'll bring several of our team members together to help progress a particular project.

To give you an idea of what that means, the following should help:

- **Aspiring to maintain quality of work**_._ We would rather something take a little longer for it to be done correctly. We never cut corners to save time. We strive for great workmanship and customer satisfaction to minimise problems and call-backs at a later stage and to increase word-of-mouth referrals.
- **Reliable**_**.** Turn up on time and on the days you are scheduled to work. If you only like working 3 or 4 days a week, then this role is not for you.
- **Conscientious**_. If something needs doing but is not necessarily your job, raise the question or simply get it done. At the end of the day, we are a team and we all want to be working in synergy.

**SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS**:
Formal qualifications are not necessary but a good understanding of the building process is essential. You will also be expected to be proficient with the safe use of hand and power tools.

**EXPERIENCE**:
At least 2 years working on residential building sites. Rates of pay reflect experience.

**DAILY TASKS**:
General building tasks include, but are not limited to:

- Framing and 2nd fix carpentry
- Kitchen fitting
- Structural alterations and steel fixing
- Drylining
- Breaking out / demolition
- General labouring when required
- Flat Roofing

**TOOLS**:
You will be expected to use your own basic hand and battery power tools such as impact drivers, circular saws, SDS drills etc. Larger break-out tools/lifting equipment etc will be provided by the company.

**DRIVING LICENCE & VEHICLE**:
You will be expected to have and maintain a driving licence throughout your time with Hylands Homes. You will need your own vehicle to get yourself and tools to and from various building sites within the Essex area. On occasion, it may be necessary to collect materials from a local supplier to keep the project moving. A company van and fuel card will be provided as a perk for those who demonstrate continued commitment to the company.

**CRIMINAL HISTORY**:
We reserve the right to carry out a DBS check on all operatives representing the company.

**INTERVIEW**:
If you are shortlisted, a telephone interview will be carried out and if we feel you are a suitable fit you will be invited to an on-site trial where you can demonstrate your skills.

**PAY**:
You will need to be CIS Registered (tax deducted at source)
Paid fortnightly (in arrears).

**HOURS**:
07:45 to 16:15 Mon to Fri

**Salary**: Up to £180.00 per day
