Join our new Eating Disorder Service in Midhurst in West Sussex as an Associate Specialist where you will provide care for youngadults between the ages of 18-25 years in an established and well-run service.

In this role you will provide clinical assessment, review and evaluation to young adults under the care and treatment of the hospital ensuring that all treatment plans are fully adhered to. You will also take a specific focus on physical health, food andfluids and risk management across the ward working closely with the ward manager, consultant and wider MDT.You will be working alongside Consultant Psychiatrists at the Midhurst Service, as well as the wider MDT of which they form an integral part.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Provide high quality treatment under the direction of a Consultant Psychiatrist
- Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users
- Providing direct psychiatric services through the comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
- Participate in weekly ward rounds & attend multidisciplinary meetings.
- Assuring the involvement of families and carers wherever possible with the patients consent in treatment planning.
- Attend Care Programme Approach & Section 117 meetings & mental health review tribunals providing up-to-date clinical information
- Ensure that medical decisions are implemented as planned
- Participate in the on-call rota including one weekend per month.
- Ensuring an adequate handover to colleagues including out of hours when on call.
- Seeking collateral history from other professionals and family.
- Completing discharge letters/reports/s62 forms as required in a timely manner.
- Preparing First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearing reports under the supervision of a Consultant.
- Depending on experience, providing oral evidence at First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearings under the supervision of the Consultant.
- Contributing to the service development by participating in Clinical Governance activities by conducting audits, research and teaching.
- Work effectively with colleagues to ensure that patients have access to appropriate medical cover at all times. **As an Associate Specialist, you will have**:

- Full GMC registration
- Experience working in psychiatry within multi-disciplinary teams
- To be in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists
- To have had an appraisal/RITA within the last year
- At least 3 years' experience in Psychiatry
- Experience working as a doctor within similar environment (desirable)
- MRCPsych (desirable)
- Section 12 (2) approval (desirable)
- AC status (desirable)
- A minimum of 4 years in the registrar or staff grade and/or specialty doctor grade and/or in the clinical and/or senior clinical medical officer grades.
- Sound medical skills and knowledge.
- Understanding of the importance of excellent team working relationships and ability to put this into practice.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
