After School Club Playworker

We are looking for an After School club Playworker from September 2023 to work with ages 3-11. To support in providing a safe, stimulating and effective learning/play environment, high quality instruction, and sensitive and appropriate pastoral care.

Monday to Friday 3pm - 6pm during term time (flexible hours during school holidays at our Holiday Club may be available)

NVQ2 or 3 qualification or equivalent and First Aid qualifications desirable.

**Job description**

**As directed by their Line Manager or Head, After School Club staff are expected to**
- establish and maintain a good rapport with parents and colleagues
- be smart, well spoken, punctual and polite at all times
- maintain high standards of vigilance to ensure a safe and secure environment
- be aware of, and follow, the school's policies on non-academic areas such as health & safety, child protection and equal opportunities
- attend training sessions, as appropriate
- as necessary, arrive at least ten minutes before the session starts, and stay for at least ten minutes after the children are collected, for staff liaison, preparation, and clearing away
- encourage in the children, by example as well as instruction, courtesy and good manners
- assist with the supervision of children in the classroom and playground, and on outings to the park or other venues
- assist with the planning, preparation and execution of activities and the clearing away of equipment
- supervise homework and group work, or lead a whole group activity such as art, gardening or reading a story, as directed by the supervisor
- renew and maintain wall and other displays
- assist with the tidiness and good order of the classrooms and cupboards, and the maintenance of stock such as pencils, books etc.
- assist with the preparations for Exhibition Day
- provide care and simple treatment for children who are unhappy or unwell, or who have suffered minor cuts or bumps
- where trained, to provide first aid to children who are injured or ill
- become trained in asthma and anaphylaxis awareness and treatment
- assist with the toileting of children, where necessary
- clear up spillage and accidents.

Part-time hours: 15 per week

**Salary**: £10.00-£11.00 per hour
