Promote a good working relationship and teamwork with the multi-disciplinary team within Imaging. Providing advice to clerical staff booking appointments. Promote good working relationships with the clinical teams and ward staff to ensure patients are investigated appropriately and on time. Communicate incidents/complaints to the Lead Sonographer and participate in the investigation of complaints as requested.

Communicate with patients through the use of advocates, information leaflets and if necessary family members in an appropriate manner to their level of understanding. To provide practical and theoretical training, with verbal and written feedback for Trainee Sonographers, Specialist Registrars and Student Radiographers. Specialist Registrar and Trainee Sonographer primary images and reports will also be checked, secondary reported and authorised by the post holder. Advise clinicians when a delay may have a direct impact on morbidity and mortality.

Escalate and accurately document communication with the Referrer, clinicians or nursing staff when ultrasound findings are important or unexpected. If appropriate, the reporting sonographer should advise on further management, or book follow up ultrasound examinations, following departmental protocols.
