The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service has a vacancy for an enthusiastic Band 7 Physician Associate within the Tier 4 Inpatient Unit. This post is an ideal opportunity for an individual looking to develop their skills and expertise within CAMHS.

As a Physician Associate you will provide high quality inpatient care in conjunction with clinical team at the unit. Ty Llidiard is a dedicated 15 bedded Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatient Unit situated on the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend site, catering to patients aged 12-18 belonging to 6 HB areas across South Wales. The postholder will join the current medical workforce in the unit comprising of 2 full time Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists, 1 full time Specialty Doctor and 1 full time CAMHS Higher Specialist Rotational Trainee.

The postholder will work as part of a wider multidisciplinary clinical team including, Nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and other Allied Health Professionals on the unit.

Core duties of the post include undertaking physical assessments, history taking, mental state examinations and providing immediate care and treatment as per clinical pathways/protocols. The unit looks after a high number of patients suffering from Eating Disorders and the post holder should possess relevant competencies such as performing ECGs, venepuncture and nasogastric tube insertion.

The post holder will work with a high degree of autonomy under supervision by a named Consultant.

The post holder will be encouraged to participate in continuing professional development activities and offered support in developing specialist clinical knowledge and skill sets relevant to their role through day release, paid study leave and access to external training.
