**About the Role**:
Loughton Health Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a medical secretary to join their team on a part-time basis, for 30 hours per week over 4 days.
We are a 4-partner busy teaching practice and are looking for an experienced secretary to work alongside our existing secretarial team.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Processing referrals using the electronic referral system (ERS)
- Maintaining an accurate referrals database
- Liaising with external agencies such as hospitals and community services, ensuring referrals are processed efficiently
- Inputting data into the patient’s healthcare records as necessary
- Answering incoming phone calls related to referrals, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
- Maintain patient and staff confidentiality in accordance with Data Protection legislation and Information Governance guidelines.

You will have the following skills and experience:
- Ideally you will have experience of secretarial work in a GP practice.
- Administrative experience and good organisation skills;
- Sound knowledge of medical terminology;
- Proficiency in the MS Office package, as well as excellent general IT skills and experience of working with a clinical system;
- Ability to 'think on your feet';
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly approach;
- Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and data security, at all times;
- Ability to multi-task and to work accurately under pressure;
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as being comfortable working independently.
**About Us**:
We are a busy 4 partner teaching practice located in central Loughton with good transport links.
We have a large support team to assist with the day to day running of the practice and support for our GP learners and medical students.
